School Programs 2The MLPD’s Crime Prevention Unit offers nearly 600 lessons each year to students of all ages.

In preschools and early elementary, lessons tend to focus on:

  • avoiding strangers,
  • safe walking, and
  • dialing 911

Later elementary lessons teach about subjects like:

  • drugs and alcohol,
  • Internet safety,
  • consequences and decision-making,
  • self-esteem, and
  • bullying

In middle school, the Crime Prevention Unit continues with lessons on:

  • Internet safety,
  • drug prevention,
  • sexual harassment,
  • safe dating and relationships, and
  • cyber ethics

For high schools, lessons parallel topics in relevant courses, and driver’s education is provided to all students.

These lessons are offered in all schools within the Mt. Lebanon jurisdiction, including:

  • all preschools,
  • all schools in the Mt. Lebanon School District,
  • St. Bernard’s School,
  • Mt. Lebanon Montessori School,
  • Keystone Oaks High School, and
  • Seton-LaSalle Catholic High School
